This is a project undertaken as part of my MSc in Video, Audio, and Social Technologies. As a group of three we were challenged to redesign the sound for a pre existing ten minute short film from scratch. The project included recording, mixing and mastering: voices (ADR), foley, ambient sounds, and location sounds. We produced both a stereo and 5.1 surround sound version, although the 5.1 mix isn’t available on YouTube yet. The film we worked on is called Elephants Dream and was used under a Creative Commons license.
For the project I worked with Gonzalo Chacon and Stavros Tsolkanakis as well as recruiting actors Conor McCorkindale (Proog) and Ritchie Collins (Emo).
About Elephants Dream:
Elephants Dream is the world’s first open movie, made entirely with open source graphics software such as Blender, and with all production files freely available to use however you please, under a Creative Commons license.
The short film was created by the Orange Open Movie Project studio in Amsterdam during 2005/2006, bringing together a diverse team of artists and developers from all over the world. For more information on the film check out https://orange.blender.org
